FACEIT Spring League 2014 concluded its first stage tonight after the 7th playday, with dignitas topping the standings and LDLC in 2nd place. The last two slots however are not yet determined, as Titan, Virtus.pro and TEAMGLOBAL found themselves in a 3-way tie and will need to play a mini-league next week to determine who will go through to the playoffs.

On the final playday despite having already secured their first place, dignitas beat last placed fnatic 16-12 on de_dust2, while in the opening match of today LDLC won over Wizards with the same score to secure their spot in the playoffs.

In what was the most important clash of the day, Virtus.pro and TEAMGLOBAL faced some DDoS issues, but the Swedes ended up winning 16-6 and going up even on points with the Poles and Titan at 4 wins and 3 losses each.

The French-Belgian team had a chance to break up this 3-way tie in the final match of the day with a win against NiP, but their big rivals bested them 16-6 on de_nuke in spite of having no chance of going through.

Titan, Virtus.pro and TEAMGLOBAL to play a new mini-league to determine who goes through

According to FACEIT's rules, the first and only decider in case of a tie is head-to-head results, but since Titan, Virtus.pro and TEAMGLOBAL each have a win in encounters with each other, they find themselves in a clinch.

In order to resolve the tie, FACEIT will run a mini-league with these three teams next week where they will once again play best-of-one matches against each other to find the two winners. Should it come down to the same scenario again with one win each, round difference will be used to determine which two teams will advance.

It is currently not determined what time exactly this mini-league will take place, but the playoffs are scheduled for May 31st and June 1st, and will be played in double elimination best-of-three format.
